Day 1: Weight Loss Journey begins

Well after our wonderful trip to Puerto Vallarta we came back to a horrifying sight. The scale said some pretty nasty things. So we have to work on taking off the vacation weight. We went to the Cold Lake Energy Centre to check out the facility and the new equipment.

They have an excellent workout facility with a nice mix of free weights and machines. They have some good cardio machines, bikes, treadmills, and steppers if weights aren't your thing. I've been doing some research and I learned that lifting heavy weights helps to boost the metabolism and burn weight faster. It goes against the traditional thinking of more reps less weight to burn calories, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Sharon unfortunately has injured her knee which puts a real damper on her running activities. However, with the new brace we purchased she was able to do some biking yesterday.

Our long term goal is to get into shape to do a biking tour in France. So that is part of the plans this summer. I hope I can stick with it. Any tips for workouts, cycling would be greatly appreciated.
