Renovations and Relay 4 Life!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for not posting in a while but Sharon and I have both been extremely busy as of late. It's getting down to the end of the school year and everyone is trying to wrap everything up in terms of school and school business. Of course, there isn't a lot of time left and everyone is in year end panic mode. I have to say the kids at school aren't being that difficult and so far everything has been pretty pleasant. It always amazes me how fast the year goes by and how it seems to drag in the beginning.

As most of  you know, Sharon and I have been in reno mode for quite some time here up in the wonderful land of Cold Lake. It all started with our bay window falling apart and dropping 2 inches in the frame. Thanks to friends and a quick fix from a carpenter we were able to get ourselves through the winter. At that time Sharon decided to forgo our jetsetting ways and put some money into our house and renovate. We have purchased new windows, ledgestone for the exterior, a high efficiency furnace, granite countertops, a new colour for the kitchen. new sink and faucet for the kitchen and master bathroom and we are planning to put hardwood throughout the upper level of our home.

Well we have everything ordered and so far we only have the high efficiency furnace (installed in an emergency by Trevor and the gang at Capital Plumbing, they do great work!), and the granite counter tops for our kitchen and bathroom. ( You can see the pics of our kitchen below.) We were supposed to have the windows installed much earlier but we have been put back by our contractor by about two months. This affects when we can put in flooring and when we can work on the exterior of the house.

In other news, Sharon and I have bought kayaks and have joined the CLAP (Cold Lake Association of Paddlers). We look forward to paddling all over cold Lake and perhaps some smaller lakes in Saskatchewan as well.

Also, the city of Cold Lake raised over 250,000 dollars for cancer research in the relay for life. Sharon's team from the rehab unit raised five thousand dollars. It was a tremendous effort by all the teams who fund raised. We managed to raise more money then even Edmonton itself. A proud accomplishment of our city.

Also the airshow is coming to Cold Lake and we will be enjoying the planes as the show will be held over Cold Lake itself. We sh ould be able to view most of the show off my back deck during the summer.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pictures. And as always, keep in touch!

Lee
